Karim Hemani
Chief Financial Officer
Karim Hemani, Chief Financial Officer, brings over 15 years of experience in finance, accounting, and corporate development. He began his career in investment banking as an M&A analyst at SMH Capital and Citigroup. He then moved to Memorial Resource Development (MRD) and Memorial Production Partners LP (MEMP), where he led M&A and capital markets efforts, supporting the company’s acquisition strategy. This included taking MRD public through an IPO, which ultimately led to its merger with Range Resources.
Karim later joined Tellurian, where he oversaw financial planning and corporate development. He negotiated a $60 million drilling development facility, lead the development of a drilling and leasing campaign in the Haynesville Shale and managed the day to day FP&A function of the upstream division. Â
In 2020, Karim joined Sunnova Energy, a leader in renewable solar energy and storage development, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Corporate Development. In this role, he was responsible for the company’s capital markets and strategic growth initiatives. He led the industry’s first-ever issuance of a residential solar high-yield bond and played a key role in Sunnova’s acquisition of SunStreet, a residential solar business focused on the homebuilder channel. He also managed a wide range of asset-level financing activities, including warehouse/construction financing, asset-backed securitizations (ABS), and tax equity funds.
Through his career, Karim has worked on over 45 financing transactions, raising more than $10 billion in capital, and executed over 30 mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, totaling more than $8 billion in transaction value.
Karim graduated with a BBA in Finance with High Honors and an MBA in General Management, both from the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business.
